The ‘Rapture of the Church’ is a phrase that is commonly heard in Christian circles, and refers to a belief that there will shortly be an event of enormous significance to the Christian: namely, when Jesus Christ snatches his Church out of this world.

Why should the claim be made that "Jesus is coming"?

Why do I believe the Bible? Why do I believe in a book that was written by 40 independent authors, living in ten countries during a period covering in excess of 1500 years? Why do I believe in a book that has a cast of over three thousand characters living in over 1500 places?
Why do I believe in an ancient book that some say is a book of legends, myths, fables, and ancient history? Of what benefit or gain is it to me to say that I believe the Bible?

For almost twenty centuries the name of Jesus Christ has been in the minds of a countless number of people. Some of these have even been tortured or put to death, for their conviction and belief that Jesus Christ was a person of tremendous importance to them.
And while these people have been so confident in Jesus, there have been others who have denied that he ever existed, saying that he was merely a myth.

The Bible is not just another book. It is unique in a number of ways. A Collins dictionary defines ‘unique’ as “single in kind; having no like or equal; peerless.”
The same dictionary defines ‘believe’ as “to regard as true; to trust (somebody’s word); —to have a firm persuasion, approaching to certainty; to have faith (in); to think; to suppose.”

Jesus is popularly represented as God the Son, and as such, part of a three-fold Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. It is a firmly held concept that is accepted by many to be a fact, although they would probably be at a loss to understand or explain exactly what is involved in the concept.
